As a step prior to the celebration of weddings, the marriage record must be initiated in the Court of Peace. The different assumptions are listed below:

Contact:

Juzgado de paz de Teror

Calle Grau Bassas, s/n. 35330. Teror

Phone: 928 630 181.

1.- For marriages between Spaniards who have marital status as singles.

Initiate, in the civil registry of the municipality where at least one of the contracting parties is registered, the marriage file.

To do this, both must be registered in the civil registry, accompanied by two people of legal age (they must consult the corresponding civil registry if they need an appointment. No appointment is required in the municipality of Teror).

On that day, the following documentation will be provided:

- DNI of the contracting parties and also of the two people who accompany them.

- Literal certificate of birth of the two, which must be requested in the civil registry where they are registered.

- Certificate of registration of the two, in which the last two years of residence in Spain are recorded. This is requested at the corresponding town hall.

- Faith of life and state of the two, issued by the civil registry of the municipality where they are registered.

- At the moment of the beginning of the marriage file, the place where they are going to marry should be communicated in the civil registry.

The processing of this file has an approximate duration of three months, once all the documentation has been delivered correctly. That is why you should anticipate those times when asking for a date for the wedding in the place where they want it to be held, for example in the City of Teror. It is even recommended that the date of the wedding be requested once the marriage record has been completed and they already have the final decision authorizing the marriage. This car is valid for one year.

2.- For marriages between Spaniards in which one of the contracting parties has the marital status of a widower.

In addition to everything listed above, you must provide:

- Certificate of the previous marriage, which must be requested in the civil registry of the municipality where the marriage was celebrated.

- Certificate of death of the deceased spouse, which must be requested in the civil registry of the municipality where the death occurred, not where it is buried.

3.- Marriages between Spaniards in which one of the parties has the civil status of divorced.

In addition to everything listed above, you must provide:

- Literal registration of the previous marriage with marginal registration of the divorce, which must be requested in the civil registry where that marriage was celebrated.

4.- For marriages between foreigners, or in which one of the contracting parties is a foreigner, they should go to the civil registry of the municipality where they are registered to request information.

- In the civil registry of Teror, weddings are held on Friday mornings and the first Saturday of each month, exclusively in the judicial offices.

- You must request information sufficiently in advance to the date that the parties wanted for the celebration of the wedding, in order to see if that date is available, and to clarify any doubts that may arise. As for the dates, it must be taken into account that the marriage file usually takes between 3 and 5 months to be resolved depending on the municipality where it is processed.

- In the month of September, weddings are not celebrated at Christmas and during Holy Week.
